Pebro alcantara straps-new for 2025

7 colours, 4 sizes, 100% VEGAN

Invented in the 1970s by a Japanese chemist and made by the Italian company Alcantara ever since, this suede like material is ideally suited to watch strap production. It is lighter and harder wearing than suede, more moisture resistant than suede, warm in winter, cool in summer, and is resistant to light and heat. It is also 100% Vegan. The new Pebro Alcantara strap has a back lining of Alcantara as well so no break in period, super comfortable from first wear. We are stocking all seven colours in all sizes, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm and 24 mm. Hand made in Germany.

Schofield watch company : the light

Schofield’s new general purpose field watch

It feels like we have been admiring watches from UK brand Schofield forever so it is hard to believe that the first offering, the Signalman was only launched in 2008. The Signalman was followed with The Beater, The Daymark, the beautiful Japanese B5 Beater and my daily wearer the titanium cased Strange Lights NQR. All limited production runs with prices up to around 10K.

Now there is a new Schofield, THE LIGHT, less expensive and limited to 150 of each model, The Light One and The Dark One. THE LIGHT is a general purpose automatic GMT field watch, 40mm diameter built for legibility and reliability, a functional watch with subtle military cues. Box sapphire crystal, high contrast monochrome colour ways, crown at 4 protected by ‘wheel arches’, matt finishing, robust strap and buckle. The bezel is vertically brushed to catch the light. The surrounding metal on the top surface is a compound curve, dropping away steeply towards the lugs.

The strap is rebated under a lip creating an all in one integrated feel and ensures it sits comfortably on all wrist sizes. The crown screws down and is protected by the machined wheel arches. The case back is printed on the inside of the mineral crystal and has tiny apertures through to the movement. The Dark One is PVD coated gun metal grey. Both models have an anti fingerprint coating. When asked how the brand name ‘Schofield’ came about, principle keeper Giles Ellis replies, ” At the time I was into spaghetti westerns and Schofield was the name of a revolver used by Jessie James. It’s the bad boys revolver of choice”

1955 inspired

Our faithful reproduction of a 1955 Swiss made watch strap.

Fine calf leather, saddlers stitching, hot pressed V grooves, and a single wide keeper.

Currently available in seven leather options or the new cognac suede version

It all started with a presentation watch we bought in 1998. The watch was fitted with a beautiful but well worn leather strap with exquisite stitching detail.

There was no makers stamp on the strap, just Swiss Made and was clearly made by hand.

The watch had been presented to the owner in 1955 and he told us that the strap was original to the watch. The TPT Vintage ‘55’ is our homage to that strap.

We were first attracted to the German made Pebro brand having seen some of their straps in vivid colours. But they are certainly not a one trick pony…they have superb straps in unusual leathers such as goat and antelope.
